- Thru the Bible Radio is a classic verse-by-verse Bible study by Dr. J. Vernon McGee. It began airing in 1967. Following Dr. McGee's death in 1988, the program continued to be broadcast using tapes of the five year study, and is still on the air as of this writing in 2006, 18 years after Dr. McGee's death. The entire 5 year study is available for free via mp3 downloads at the Thru the Bible website.
- LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain, and then release the audio files back onto the net (podcast and catalog). Their objective is to make all books in the public domain available, for free, in audio format on the internet. They are a totally volunteer, open source, free content, public domain project.
- Project Gutenberg is the oldest producer of free ebooks on the Internet. Their collection was produced by hundreds of volunteers. There are 17,000 free books in the Project Gutenberg Online Book Catalog, with 2 million ebooks downloaded each month (February, 2006).
- The Internet Archive is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Like a paper library, they provide free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public. Also home to the Wayback Machine - Browse through 55 billion web pages archived from 1996 to a few months ago. Note: If you're trying to find a specific Bible Reading sound file stored in the Internet Archive, look up that reading here on the website.
